The rest of 2026 brings the CBK fall in October, then a bigger November of big dots, thigh-highs and faux fur. Here is our trend calendar for the year so far and the pieces that go with each month.

Winter Fashion Trends 2026: A Month-by-Month Trend Calendar
The 2026 Trend Calendar
Every year somebody posts a trend calendar, and every year I save it and check it again in December. Last year's had suede in March, cinnamon in October and equestrian boots in November. This year I made our own: nine months of what actually happened, then a forecast for the three months left.
I didn't guess from vibes. I looked at what people searched for and bought (the Lyst Index, Google search data, Vogue's reader polls), what the fall runways showed, and the one forecaster that publishes month-by-month numbers for the end of the year. Trends rarely come out of nowhere. They come back in a new shape, usually heavier, darker and a few months later.

The Year So Far
January opened on a blank page: Pantone named a white, Cloud Dancer, its Color of the Year for the first time. February belonged to Wuthering Heights and its antique-inspired corsets. In March, Love Story made C.O. Bigelow's tortoiseshell headband its best-selling accessory in 188 years.
April's Lyst report crowned Saint Laurent's stand-collar jacket the hottest product in fashion. May was jelly shoes, with Skims' pair up 2,170%. June was the Knicks cap, the hottest product of Q2. July was polka dots, which Vogue readers voted the trend of the summer. August was the heeled thong sandal, and September was balloon pants, which took over the fall runways at Chloé, Moschino and Dior.
Read together, the year went quiet, then romantic, then loud and sporty, and now it's getting bigger. The forecast follows those threads.

October: The CBK Fall
February's minimalism didn't go away. It put on a coat. The September street style was full of what Marie Claire calls the Carolyn Bessette Kennedy effect: suede, pony hair and tortoiseshell, "up in a big way."
If I bought one thing this month it would be a suede jacket, worn over a cream knit with brown trousers and tall boots, all one tone family so the texture does the talking. Then break the neutrals on purpose with vivid purple, the season's surprise color, in a crewneck or an overshirt. For the bag, Heuritech has dome bags up 18% over the next year, and the rounded shape suits suede better than a hard rectangle.
Below, Róhe's suede bomber and Nour Hammour's Dalma blouson are the two jackets I'd choose between, Loewe's turtleneck brings the purple, and Alaïa's Dome 25 is the bag.
What I would skip: anything 90s-coded with a logo on it. The whole appeal of that look is that it has none.
October: Suede, Purple and Dome Bags
November: Go Big
Every trend from summer comes back larger. Heuritech forecasts big dots up 147% in Q4, timed to Art Basel Paris, so July's polka dots grow to the size of your palm and move onto a coat. Not everyone agrees. Who What Wear's London report says polka dots have run their course. My read is that small dots are done and big ones are just starting.
Thigh-high boots were "omnipresent in Paris", equestrian at Hermès and Stella McCartney and slouchy at Balenciaga. Wear them with a knee-length coat so only a little leg shows. And the shaggy coat, which Glamour compared to "an incredibly chic fuzzy duster", is a whole outfit over slim black trousers.
In the grid, Jacquemus does the big dot twice, on a cotton shirt and a jersey midi, next to Toteme's brown over-the-knee boots and The Frankie Shop's Hope faux fur jacket.
What I would skip: all three at once. Pick one big thing per outfit and keep the rest plain.
November: Big Dots, Thigh-Highs and Faux Fur
December: Heritage, After Dark
The year ends where February started, in romance, only now it's party season. Harper's Bazaar said lace looked best this season as "inky black dresses that exuded a gothic sensuality". A black lace dress is the holiday dress that still looks right next December.
Plaid is the daytime half. Heuritech has it up 16% for men in Q4 in deep navy, beige and warm brown, and a pleated plaid midi works for a family dinner and, under a lace top, for a party. The waistline is also sliding down: Vogue counted the dropped waist at Chanel, Dior, Alaïa and Saint Laurent, and what Matthieu Blazy does at Chanel reaches everyone else fast.
The grid pairs Retrofête's Jeanette lace gown and a Roberto Cavalli lace-trimmed slip with two plaid midis from Dôen and Polo Ralph Lauren.
What I would skip: the single-use sequin dress. If you want shine, get a sequin separate you'll wear again in January.
Trends Come Back in a New Shape
Put the two calendars side by side and almost every forecast has a parent earlier in the year. The March headband becomes October's suede. July's dots become November's big dots. February's corsets become December's black lace.
So you probably don't need nine new things. You need the darker, heavier, bigger version of the one or two pieces you already loved this year. Check back in December and we'll see how the calendar did. If you want to keep browsing, I also put together The Best Vitamins for Hair Growth Are a Six-Month Commitment.
