Warm Leather

Warm Leather

A men's edit of cognac, tan and brown leather and suede, from café racers and bombers to penny loafers. For the guy who wants pieces that look better with age.

Leather and suede get better the longer you own them, which is why I like to buy the warm colors first. Cognac, tan and chocolate brown go with everything in a man's closet, from grey flannel to worn-in denim. Quince's rich brown café racer and Harrington jackets are the easy starting point, and the AGOLDE Emil suede bomber in seal brown is the one I would wear on repeat with a white tee. I went deeper on a related idea in Men's Bronze Style: Cognac Leather, Amber Cotton, Warm Metals.

If you want something lighter, a tan suede trucker like the BOSS or the Frescobol Carioca Ravi looks great over a dark sweater. Then bring the color down to your feet. G.H. Bass's Berkeley suede loafers and Cole Haan's Pinch Penny in tobacco suede pick up the same warm tones without trying hard. Look at the stitching around the collar and zip, because that is where good leather shows.
