Trousers, Sweaters, and Trench Coats

Trousers, Sweaters, and Trench Coats

An arrival wardrobe of wide trousers, soft sweaters and trench coats that works straight off the plane. Made for anyone who wants to land and head out.

When I land somewhere after a long flight, I want to walk straight into the day without stopping to change. My formula is three things: a wide trouser, a soft sweater and a trench coat that goes over all of it. Pleated pairs from Theory and Helmut Lang move well on a plane and look sharp coming off one, and the Reformation Gale pant in brown is what I wear when I want to feel comfortable and still put together.

On top I like a Guest in Residence cashmere crew or a Quince boatneck, something that can be a pillow for an hour and still look fine. Then the trench: Still Here's stone one has a longer line, ASTR the Label's is easy to throw on over anything, and the Marine Layer houndstooth is the one I would pick if the weather is unpredictable. Keep the colors close, camel, grey, black and stone, and everything will work together. I went deeper on a related idea in Cropped Trench Coats for Transitional Weather. I went deeper on a related idea in Fall Trench Coats: How to Pick the Right Length and Drape.
