Oversized cardigans and dusters that fall from the shoulders and soften any outfit, from longline cashmere to cozy wool. For women who want a coat-like layer in knit.

The Cardigan Trench
I think of a long cardigan as a coat that happens to be soft. The idea is simple: a piece that falls from the shoulders and moves when you walk, worn open over a tee and jeans or over a slip dress when it is cold. If you want the full floor skimming version, start with the Quince merino duster, the Naadam cashmere duster or the La Vie Style House maxi duster.
When I want something shorter but still slouchy, I reach for Guest in Residence, whose cashmere cardigans sit nicely over wide leg trousers, or Carolina K's striped Albor, which does all the work on its own. Naked Cashmere and Rixo are the ones I would wear buttoned up with a skirt. Pick one in grey, oatmeal or charcoal first, because those go with everything already in your closet.
