Tara Swennen Style: Fall Layers and Red-Carpet Looks

Tara Swennen Style: Fall Layers and Red-Carpet Looks

A fall edit built around the fitting-day uniform, sharp outerwear and playful shoes that inform the stylist's work.

Tara Swennen's fall wardrobe pairs fitting-day layers with statement outerwear, playful shoes and the red-carpet style she builds with Kristen Stewart.

A fitting-room point of view

Swennen's work keeps the person in view, even when the clothes get bold. I love that her foundation is as practical as her red-carpet style: she studied fashion design at Cornell, met A.L.C. founder Andrea Lieberman at Barneys and assisted Rachel Zoe before starting her own styling business in 2006.

Kristen Stewart and Julie Bowen were among her first clients, and Swennen has dressed Stewart since she was 14. For her own fittings, she has described a jeans-and-T-shirt uniform, with a blazer when needed and pieces from Rag & Bone, Rails, L'Agence and Converse.

A red-carpet look that moves

On Kristen Stewart's Love Lies Bleeding tour, Swennen used the film's gym setting as a starting point, balancing sporty references with lingerie layers and playful proportions. I like how the clothes stay in conversation with the film without turning into a costume.

InStyle included Swennen among its 2024 Imagemaker award winners and named Stewart, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Allison Janney among her clients. At Cannes in 2026, she and Stewart paired fashion-house looks with Converse and Nike sneakers, keeping comfort and movement inside the picture.

Where I would start with Tara Swennen's style

Start with a strong layer, then keep the rest simple. Add a sneaker or a textured knit when the outfit needs more movement. That balance of personality and practicality feels true to how Swennen works.
