Sarah Richardson wallpaper and fabric, from a designer's own collections

Sarah Richardson's wallpaper and fabric are a direct way into the rooms she designs. She began in Canada as a prop stylist and set decorator in 1995, launched her first HGTV series, Room Service, in 2000, and has since hosted, co-created and co-produced more than 350 episodes across nine series.

Her product story is just as considered: Kravet launched her fabric collection in 2013, followed by a second collection in 2016. She introduced home textiles in 2015 and wallpaper with Brewster Wallcoverings. I like starting at the wall, then carrying the pattern through the room with fabric.

Sarah Richardson's design practice brings pattern into practical rooms

Sarah Richardson Design has served residential clients in Canada, the United States and Europe since 1998. She is also the author of Sarah Style, At Home: Sarah Style and the three-volume Collected by Sarah Richardson series, and launched the Design Life series on YouTube in 2019.

For fall and winter rooms, I would start with the tactile choices: wallpaper with a clear motif, fabrics with repeat pattern, and quieter weaves for balance. The Sarah Richardson Design shop currently lists wallpapers and Kravet fabrics with available variants, so every product in these four grids links to a live listing.

Where I would start with Sarah Richardson's style

I would begin with Peony Tree wallpaper, then bring in Harbord Meadow fabric as the second pattern. Keep the other surfaces quieter so the mix has room to breathe. Sarah's designs make pattern feel at home in the spaces we use every day.
