Poupette St Barth is the island label Poupette Giraud started in 1995, full of bright prints, smocking and bows. I keep coming back to it for dresses that look like the long lunch they are meant for.

Poupette St Barth Dresses: What I Would Choose
A wardrobe shaped by one island
I will admit that most brands selling an escape make me roll my eyes a little, but Poupette St Barth actually has an island in its origin story. Poupette Giraud, a self-taught designer from Cannes, arrived on St Barth in 1979 and never really left. In 1995 she started the label with a dream wardrobe she wanted to share with other women, and the brand's own history is worth a read if you like a founder who stayed put.
Giraud came to clothes sideways, through window dressing, jewelry design and sculpting, and textiles are the thing she kept returning to. You can see the handwork in the smocking, the pleats, the drawstrings, the bows and the flounces. To me those are all small ways a dress moves with you, which is why a printed mini feels right at a late lunch and a long dress feels right at sunset.
My instinct is to pick one print and keep everything else quiet: plain sandals, a simple bag, nothing competing. That is how you hold onto the St Barth mood without turning it into a costume.

Prints for long, sunlit days
The dresses are where the brand stretches its prints out. The Christine Bandeau Dress and Manon Mini Dress are the short, playful ones, while the Stella Long Dress and Denise Long Dress carry the same mood down to the ankle. I am partial to the Perla Long Dress and Collina Long Dress, which sound as romantic as they look, and the Maja Mini Dress and Emilie Mini Dress are what I would reach for on a hot evening. I went deeper on a related idea in MISA Los Angeles Dresses: The Prints I Would Wear.
In my fashion dreams, she wears the Carla Long Dress from a beach walk straight to dinner and only changes her sandals. What I would skip: layering a second pattern on top of a printed dress. One print is the whole point.

Separates for a suitcase that works hard
This is the suitcase-packing part of my brain talking. The Soledad Pant and Suma Top share the blue Palm Beach print, and the Megan Pant and Sidonie Shirt share the green Reef Wave one. I like them as real coordinates, which means they can travel as a pair or split up and still make sense.
The Nava Poncho is a light layer for over swimwear, and the Uma Long Skirt is a calm base for a plain top. My rule for resort prints is one solid piece for every patterned bottom, so a favorite shirt can come back twice without looking like a repeat. Mix either print with solids, but I would not stack the two together.

Where the line gets interesting
Ordering straight from the label opens up a second print story: Blue Sumi and Blue Tiny Blooms feel like cousins, not repeats. I would start small with Bandeau Sandy in Blue Sumi, then decide whether Top Bella or Top Lola in the same print gives the day the right amount of coverage. Mini Skirt Iria and Mini Skirt Emy keep that palette short, while Long Skirt Neree takes it further, and the Blue Tiny Blooms version is the quieter take on the same long shape. Pant Clea in Blue Flower Bunch is a looser bottom that does not need a matching partner.
The dresses change the pace. Mini Dress Mona in Clay and Mini Dress Morae in Black are the tonal breaks, Mini Dress Sasha comes in Blue Japonism and Pink Aquaflora, and Long Dress Antea in Natural White is the lightest thing here. My test is to choose one printed piece first, then add a simple sandal and a bag with room for the day.
What I would skip: a printed top, skirt and bag all at once. A strong pattern has more personality when it gets some air.

The island in every print
What I like most about Poupette St Barth is how considered an easy dress can feel: a print that stops you, a little movement at the hem, a neckline that needs nothing else. The island shows up in the palette, but also in how the clothes imagine a day unfolding. I would keep one long dress ready for a dinner that starts outside and let the rest of the suitcase stay simple. Although I suspect the suitcase will end up full of prints anyway.
