Pleated, crinkled and gathered pieces inspired by Issey Miyake, from flowing skirts to ribbed tops. Made for anyone who wants texture to carry an outfit.

Pleats are the one texture that makes a plain outfit look planned. I think of Issey Miyake first, the way a pleated top holds its shape in a suitcase and still moves when you walk, and that is the feeling I wanted in this edit.

 

The tiny pleats on the pink top and the yellow trousers look best with nothing else going on. Vince's micro-pleated lilac top and the printed Poppy Blur column skirt are quieter, good for the office and dinner after. When I want something with more swing I reach for the Jenni Kayne pleated skirt in charcoal, and when I want something playful the Splits59 white mini or the Rowing Blazers corduroy skirt with sneakers. Keep the top simple and let the folds do the work.
