Patchology Masks: Eye Gels, Sheet Masks and Patches

Patchology Masks: Eye Gels, Sheet Masks and Patches

Patchology started as a drug delivery company and launched its skincare line in 2014 around one promise, results in five minutes. Here are eight Patchology gels and masks, from chilled eye gels to a hand mask, and eight other masks and patches I compared them with.

Magazine-style product test page with five cut-out products and a best-for note on each: Patchology Serve Chilled On Ice Cooling & Firming Under Eye Gel Patches; Patchology Serve Chilled Bubbly Brightening Eye Gels; Patchology FlashPatch Restoring Night Eye Gels; Patchology Skin Remedy Soothing Eye Gels; Patchology FlashPatch Hydrating Lip Gel Patches

From Drug Delivery to a Five-Minute Mask

Patchology started as a drug delivery company, not a skincare brand. Founder Chris Hobson told BeautyMatter that the company was founded in 2010 to develop transdermal drug deliveries, working with drug companies like Novartis and Johnson & Johnson, and that the brand itself launched in 2014. The first product was the FlashMasque, a sheet mask built to work in five minutes. Hobson says the idea came backstage at New York Fashion Week, where models and makeup artists told the team they did not have twenty minutes. I went deeper on a related idea in Jen Atkin's Five-Minute Ouai Hair Mask, and the Masks That Sit Next to It.

I like that origin because it explains the whole patchology idea. A gel that sits on one small area for a short stretch is easier to fit into a morning than a full mask. The brand's tagline is "beauty at the speed of you," and it credits its HydraSurge technology for the five-minute timing. I read that as marketing, but the habit is real. Stick, wait, peel.

The first grid is eight Patchology picks, from chilled and night eye gels to a lip patch, a sheet mask and a hand mask. The second grid is eight other masks and patches I compared them with, from collagen sheet masks to retinol eye patches. If you have never tried this format, start with eye gels. They are the smallest commitment and the easiest to judge.

My tip: put patchology eye gels on clean, dry skin, press them gently into place, and use the time to do something else. Pat in whatever slick is left instead of wiping it off.

Eight Patchology Gels and Masks, Eyes to Hands

The Serve Chilled On Ice Cooling and Firming Under Eye Gel Patches are the ones I would start with if puffiness is the problem. They have plant-based bakuchiol and depuffing peptides, and Patchology says results show in 5 minutes. Serve Chilled Bubbly Brightening Eye Gels are the effervescent version, left on for about 10 minutes. The name says serve chilled, so I keep both in the fridge.

For nights there are the FlashPatch Restoring Night Eye Gels, with retinol and peptides as a 5-minute nightly dose for fine lines and fatigue. Skin Remedy Soothing Eye Gels are the extra-gentle option for dry, irritated under-eyes, and the Skin Remedy Barrier-Boosting Sheet Mask is a mask in a creamy formula for redness, irritation and rough texture. Eye Want Cake Smoothing and Hydrating Eye Patches add marshmallow root, sugarcane and vanilla extract, and they come as a single pair, which makes them a low-stakes way to try the line.

Then the extras. FlashPatch Hydrating Lip Gel Patches moisturize dry lips or prep them for lip product in 5 minutes, and they are what I would wear before lipstick on a flaky day. Rosé Fingers Renewing Hand Mask is a rosé-scented hydrating mask in a rose-gold foil mitten, more of a treat than a need.

What I would skip: the night eye gels on the same evening as another retinol product. Give your eye area one active at a time.

Eight Other Masks and Patches Worth Comparing

Start with the sheet masks. Biodance Bio Collagen Real Deep Mask is a concentrated gel-type mask with low-molecular weight collagen, aimed at pores and elasticity for normal and combination skin. Peace Out Overnight Bio-Collagen Recovery Sheet Mask is a single-use mask meant to leave tired skin looking better by morning. LANEIGE Cream Skin Milky Hydration Sheet Mask comes in a pack of five, with ceramides, peptides and white leaf tea for normal to dry skin. Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Hydrating and Soothing Jelly Sheet Mask is a hydrogel with watermelon extract, centella and hyaluronic acid, and it suits almost any skin type.

Dr. Jart+ Cryo Rubber Soothing Face Mask with Allantoin is a different animal. It is a two-step treatment that cools skin and seals in the serum, for redness and dryness, and it is the one I would hand to sensitive skin.

For the eyes, Peace Out 360 Eye Mask Patches use biocellulose with encapsulated retinol and peptides on the under eyes and eyelids. Augustinus Bader The Eye Patches are hydrogel patches with TFC8 and acetylated hyaluronic acid. Peter Thomas Roth Peptide Skinjection Hydra-Gel Face and Eye Mask Patches come as 60 patches meant for expression lines, so you can place them on the forehead or between the brows.

What I would skip: the retinol eye patches if your eyelids sting easily. Try the hydrogel or peptide ones first.

Where I Would Start

I think Patchology is the easiest way into this whole category, because the pitch is so small. Five minutes, one area, no rinsing. If I were choosing one, I would buy the chilled eye gels for mornings and the night eye gels for evenings, then decide whether a full sheet mask is worth adding. Use the others in the second grid when you want a bigger treatment on a weekend, and keep the patches in the fridge door so they are ready. If you want to keep going, Beauty Products for a Five-Minute Face: Three Steps, Then Out the Door is the one I would read next.
