Ōtzĭo is a London label founded by Claudio Aritzu, a textile designer and photographer who studied graphic design in Milan and fashion design at London College of Fashion. It is known for vivid colors and lush prints on kaftans, shirts and silk scarves, and takes its name from the Roman idea of otium, or reflective leisure. This edit brings together his long fringed scarves and printed silk squares.

Ōtzĭo

Long scarves with fringe
Aritzu started as a textile designer, and the long scarves feel like it. Painterly prints in plum, cream, soft yellow and pink run the length of the silk, and the fringe at the ends moves when you do. Tie one at the neck, loop it through a belt loop or wear it open over a plain tee. The label also takes its inspiration from the Roman idea of otium, and a long scarf is a very good excuse to slow down.
Printed silk squares
The squares are the art pieces, from a figure print in a yellow frame and a pleated grey and ochre to a copper stripe with pink fringe and a deep olive green. They are small enough to knot into a bag handle and large enough to wear as a top over the shoulders. I would fold one into a headscarf for a trip.
Prints and color
A bright pink floral, a cobalt blue, a green stripe and a black and white geometric finish the group. All of the prints are about color and layering, which is how Aritzu describes his approach to textile. Keep the outfit simple and let the print lead.
Silk squares and printed layers
The printed squares come in saturated yellow with a fringe, bright cornflower blue with paisley, and painterly cotton voile and silk twill with rich ochre and red. The two poncho style tops show the same prints worn as clothing. Tie a square on a handbag or knot one at the neck and the whole look shifts.
How I would wear it
Pick one scarf in the color you most often reach for and wear it three ways in a week. Ōtzĭo is for women who want a piece of wearable art in an everyday outfit. When I want to see how Ōtzĭo's scarf fits into a wider rotation, I reach for silk scarves with a little personality.
