Midnight Navy Separates and Shoes

Midnight Navy Separates and Shoes

A women's edit of midnight navy separates and shoes, from wide trousers and silk skirts to cashmere knits, loafers and flats. Built to mix with each other and with your neutrals.

Midnight navy is the color I reach for when black feels too harsh. It is deeper than regular navy, so it looks sharp with white, camel or even another navy, and it hides a coffee spill better than you would think. I like building it in separates, starting with a pair of wide trousers like the ones from Veronica Beard or Theory, then adding a top in a different texture. I went deeper on a related idea in Blue Formal Dresses: Diana's Midnight Velvet and the Case for Navy.

Sablyn's shrunken cashmere crew and rag & bone's roll neck are the soft pieces I would wear with them, and Reformation's silk skirt with the lace hem is the one I would wear out at night. For shoes, beek's loafers and Margaux's flats keep the color going down to the ground. Wear one navy piece with one lighter piece and let the dark do the work.
