LANA Jewelry

LANA Jewelry

LANA Jewelry was founded in Chicago in 2002 by designer Lana Bramlette, who began with a search for great gold hoops. She became known as the Queen of Hoops, and the brand makes modern jewelry in solid 14k gold around a philosophy of less clothes, more jewelry. This edit gathers diamond tennis bracelets and necklaces, Blake chain chokers, huggies and flat hoops, butterfly pieces and initial necklaces, ending on 14K gold hoops and pendants.

Hoops, drops, tennis and Blake chokers

LANA Jewelry began in Chicago in 2002 with designer Lana Bramlette, and the beginning is wonderfully specific: she was searching for a great pair of gold hoops. That search is why she is called the Queen of Hoops. Her first collection was in 14-karat gold and aimed at women buying fine jewelry for themselves, her husband inspired the original name plate necklace, and her philosophy, less clothes, more jewelry, shows in how much each piece does on its own. The Large Flat Magic hoop earrings and the Narrow Flat diamond hoops are the signature shape, the Kinetic diamond huggies and the double piercing mini huggie are the smaller ones, and the Interlocking Circle drops in blue diamond, the Laser Disc linear earrings and the Laser chandelier earrings are the drops. The Flawless Diamond Butterfly ring and the Double Butterfly necklace add a motif. The Blake necklace and the Mega Gloss Blake choker are the layering base, with the graduated and white gold tennis bracelets and the butterfly tennis necklace on top. A simple test for a stack: keep no more than three chains of different lengths, with the shortest one the heaviest. What I would skip is wearing a tennis bracelet, a tennis necklace and a diamond choker together, since the sparkle stops reading as intentional. My diamond earrings guide compares studs, hoops and drops, and my tennis necklace guide covers the neckline.

Bracelets, flat hoops and initials

The second group takes the same ideas in smaller pieces. The Malibu triple-chain bracelet, the square chain bracelet, the Remix interlocking rectangle bracelet and the edged hollow hinge bangle are the wrist pieces, and the baguette diamond tennis bracelet is the dressier one. The hoops continue with the Royale thin hoops, the Flash hoops, the small flat Magic hoops and the small hollow Flash textured hoops, and the Mini Flat Hooked on Hoop earrings add dangling diamonds. The Malibu diamond initial necklace in A to Z and the flawless mini initial pendant sit close to the name plate idea Lana started with. The Blake heart chain necklace and the Triple Butterfly diamond lariat are the pieces with a motif, and the Vanity triple-band ring and the curved solo diamond constellation ring give the hand something to do. For ring shapes and gold choices, my ring guide explains how to choose, and the sculptural gold jewelry edit shows bolder links.

How I would wear it

If I were wearing LANA every day, I would pick a pair of flat hoops, one Blake chain and a single bracelet, then change the necklace for the evening. It is jewelry that answers the question the founder asked in 2002, which is what a great gold hoop looks like. For a wider overview, my buying guide to rings, earrings and necklaces is a good companion.
