Julia Marcum's home collection starts with her lived in modern traditional style

Julia Marcum is the creator and designer behind Chris Loves Julia, the home blog she began with her husband Chris in 2009. For more than fifteen years, they have shared renovation projects and described their style as moody, modern and traditional, with comfort and welcome at the center.

They began with a small home improvement project. Julia designs their own homes, the Chris Loves Julia brand and products, but says designing a whole house for someone else is a different job. In 2026, their shoppable work spans Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, Pottery Barn Teen, Shades of Light and WallPops.

Julia Marcum's fall home mood comes from wood, candlelight and pattern

In the 2026 Pottery Barn line, a Florence chair and settee sit alongside sturdy case pieces, rounded forms and old world details. I would keep the base of a room quiet, then use a clock, a pewter candle holder or a woven tray to draw the eye to a shelf or console.

Lighting is where Chris Loves Julia's partnership with Shades of Light brings a room into focus, with Edie, Marlo, Victor and Sophia fixtures across sconces, pendants and ceiling lights. WallPops brings the other side of the story, with Chris Loves Julia window film, FloorPops tiles and peel and stick wallpaper, so a small surface can carry pattern without changing the furniture.

Where I would start with Julia Marcum's home style

I would begin with one substantial anchor, like the Florence Chair, then let the room take shape around a warm table lamp and a patterned surface. The marble and copper in her fall house photographs show how practical rooms can still hold a little drama. That balance of use and atmosphere is what I want to bring home this season.
