Journaling in Public

Journaling in Public

Soft cashmere cardigans, striped sweaters, dark denim and a faux leather skirt for long afternoons in a coffee shop. Dress for comfort and keep the colors warm.

Journaling in public means sitting in a coffee shop with a notebook, a warm drink and an outfit that feels as soft as the page you are writing. I dress for it in layers that stay comfortable for three hours in one chair. The base is usually a cashmere cardigan, like the Reformation Maude in red or the LISA YANG Wilona in grey, worn buttoned up over a plain tee.

For the bottom half, straight dark jeans from Madewell or Pistola do the most work, and a faux leather skirt from J.Crew adds some edge. When it is cold I add the La Ligne striped sweater with a scarf or the J.Crew poncho over the top. Pick colors that look good next to a ceramic mug: oatmeal, chocolate, navy and one pop of red.
