Homecourt Home Care: A Guide to Home and Body

Homecourt is the home-care label Courteney Cox and Sarah Jahnke started in Santa Monica, with hand wash that smells like a good candle. I like it because it makes the boring parts of a day feel a little more pleasant.

Beauty for the home, from the start

I will admit that I have never once looked forward to washing a dish, and Homecourt is the first brand that made me think about it. Courteney Cox and Sarah Jahnke started it in 2022 in Santa Monica, and it grew out of Cox's real interests: home design, organization and fragrance. She thinks of her home as a sanctuary, and she wanted the things on her counter to look and smell as good as they work (a reasonable thing to want, honestly).

So she went to perfumers and skincare chemists, and you can tell. Hand wash, dish soap and surface cleaner are treated like small beauty products, with real fragrance and gentle formulas, and the bottles are meant to stay out where you can see them instead of hiding under the sink. Read the story on the brand's own site and you get the same idea: daily upkeep should have a little atmosphere. I went deeper on a related idea in Aesop Hand and Body Care: What to Buy First.

Since then the line has stretched into body care and laundry, and I like that the idea stayed the same. One scent, from the sink to the sheets. If you want to keep going, AmLactin Lotion and the Acid Body Care That Followed is the one I would read next.

Scent for every room

The trick here is that one fragrance travels. The Cece Candle is the room version of the founder's warm cedarwood-and-cardamom signature, and then the Cece Surface Cleaner, Cece Dish Soap and Cece Hand Wash carry it through the kitchen, so nothing in the house argues with anything else.

If I wanted something fresher, I would go to Steeped Rose Hand Wash, or Neroli Leaf Hand Wash for a lighter floral, and Cipres Mint Dish Soap for something green and bright. Picture a quiet reset after dinner, the candle lit in the next room, one hand under the tap, the whole place smelling calm. My small tip: keep the cleaner near the sink but a bit apart from the soaps, so quick wipe-downs are easy and nothing gets splashed. What I would skip is mixing three scents on one counter.

A little atmosphere in the everyday

The second set is where Homecourt gets domestic in the best way. Steeped Rose Surface Cleaner and Cipres Mint Hand Wash round out the kitchen, while the Cece Laundry Concentrate, Steeped Rose Linen Spray and Wool Dryer Balls take the same scent to the laundry room and the bed.

Nobody here pretends cleaning is thrilling. The idea is that tending to a space can be a nicer few minutes, and I like a candle by the kitchen sink as a cue to slow down, not as decoration. Once the dishes are done, that is a small pleasure worth keeping. Although I suspect the linen spray will be gone first.
