High Sport Knitwear

High Sport Knitwear

Alissa Zachary launched High Sport in the early 2020s in New York and Los Angeles after years of merchandising at The Row and consulting for Khaite, and the label opened with a single item, a cropped, pull-on kick-flare trouser made to look tailored while wearing like a legging. That one silhouette became an unlikely editor obsession and the brand has since built out a small range of Italian-made knitwear around the same logic.

Collage of runway looks, campaign shots and street style outfits that capture the High Sport mood

Trousers and shorts

This is the category High Sport was actually built on, the Kick Pant and its relatives, engineered to hold a tailored line without a zipper, a button, or a waistband that fights you. Zachary's stated bar for the brand, easy to style, easy to wear, easy to care for, is most obvious here. Shorts follow the same stretch-knit construction, structure without the usual stiffness.

Tops and shirting

The tops exist to be the plain half of an outfit built around those trousers, which is a very Row-trained way to think about dressing: let one piece do the talking and keep everything else quiet. Shirting here favors clean lines over embellishment, made to be worn tucked into the label's own pants more often than not. It is a small, disciplined offering rather than a sprawling one.

Knitwear

High Sport works almost entirely in stretch fabrications made in Italy, and the knitwear extends that same idea upward from the trousers, pieces that read as structured while actually behaving like something soft and pulled-on. It is the part of the collection that most clearly shows Zachary's merchandising background: nothing precious, everything meant to actually get worn on a normal day. There is not much print or embellishment competing for attention.

Tailoring with room to move

Rounding out the edit are the pieces beyond the trouser that show how far a genuinely small brand has stretched one idea, easy, stretch-knit tailoring, across a fuller wardrobe. It is worth a look for anyone deciding whether the label's reputation is really about one hit pant or about a whole way of making clothes. Either way, the range stays narrow on purpose.

Word of mouth made the name

High Sport is a rare case of a brand becoming known for exactly the thing it is actually good at, rather than for marketing around it. The Kick Pant earned its reputation the slow way, through editors and stylists repeating themselves, not through a launch campaign, and the label has been careful not to dilute that with too many new ideas at once. It is not for anyone who wants a lot of variety in a single order. Start with the trouser that made the brand's name before buying anything else in the range. When High Sport's signature trouser is on my mind, I would round it out with trousers for different days and knits for cooler weather.
