Long sleeve henleys and soft knits in navy, black and cream for men. Easy everyday layers that work alone or under a jacket.

Some pieces earn a spot in the rotation because you reach for them without thinking, and for me that is the long sleeve henley. It sits between a tee and a sweater, so it works alone in spring and under a jacket in fall. I look for a waffle or slub cotton that has some weight, in navy, black, cream or a faded green.

 

The Toddsnyder mini waffle henley in navy and the Marine Layer Luxe Jersey are the two I would start with. The Tracksmith Fells is lighter and good for a run or a flight, and BOSS has a slim ribbed one that goes under a blazer. On the days I want something a bit more dressed, Rhone's Mercer knit polo and an Orlebar Brown knit polo do the same job with a collar.
